Synopsis

News of Ellas grandmother, Mabel, who is in the hospital comes as severe news which leads to her hometown in the mountains known as Willow Creek, a small town rather than a city.
At first, Ella plans to visit her grandmother for a few days as the last care giver, to make sure her grandmother is being taken care of. However, she is met with a rush of feelings, including memories unresolved feelings with her younger brother Luke, and the gentle charm of the little town.
Week after week, Ella reminisces with her past, including with her little companion June, her high school art teacher Mr. Hensley, and a gentle carpenter Nathan, who helps her restore her grandmother’s old house.
The core of this tale is Ella’s relationship with her grandmother, who becomes central to her memories. With every conversation she engages in, every letter she comes across, and every old path she retraces, Ella slowly comes to terms with the fact the grandmother had a price to pay to raise her.
